In the rational optimist (a great, great book btw!) Matt talks about how 50 years ago we had 100 companies each with 10,000+ employees, now we have 10,000 companies each with 100 employees. So the shift towards smaller enterprises has been going on for quite a few years now and that's all in my opinion for everyone's benefit.
